Electoral Reform Bill 2022: From the Seanad Dail Éireann — 2022-07-13 ============================================================ Mattie McGrath (IND), Tipperary There have been numerous Bills before the House in the past two weeks. Someone did an analysis and critique of them in the context of legislation passed by the House earlier in the term and what is before it now. We knew all along that the House would finish up in the second or third week of July. The way this is being done is rushed and distasteful. We are not doing our duty, quite simply. We are passing Bills with this number of amendments and then moving on to the next Bill. It is indecent haste. There is a clamour to just get the Bills passed and signed. Rushed legislation is often bad legislation. Deputy McGuinness is right. The President did comment on the number of Bills handed to him when the Dáil finished up before Christmas. Here we go again.
