Report of the Joint Committee on Housing, Local Government and Heritage: Motion Dail Éireann — 2022-07-13 ============================================================ Steven Matthews (GP), Wicklow I move: That Dáil Éireann: (1) notes the agreed Report of the Joint Committee on Housing, Local Government and Heritage under Standing Order 133 on the following proposal: — Proposal for a COUNCIL REGULATION on the election of the Members of the European Parliament by direct universal suffrage, repealing Council Decision 76/787/ECSC, EEC, Euratom and the Act concerning the election of the members of the European Parliament by direct universal suffrage annexed to that Decision; which was laid before Dáil Éireann on 12th July, 2022, in accordance with Standing Order 133(3)(b); (2) having regard to the aforementioned Report, and in exercise of its functions under section 7(3) of the European Union Act 2009, is of the opinion that the proposal does not comply with the principle of subsidiarity for the reasons set out in the Report; and (3) notes that, pursuant to Standing Order 133(4), a copy of this Resolution together with the Reasoned Opinion and the aforementioned Report shall be sent to the Presidents of the European Parliament, the Council and the Commission. --- Source: Houses of the Oireachtas.
