Climate Change Negotiations Dail Éireann — 2022-11-22 ============================================================ Brian Leddin (GP), Limerick City I welcome the comments about the Minister, Deputy Ryan. I share the view, and I am sure it is shared across both Houses, of the Minister's influence on this key subject. History will show that this was a turning point. COP26 and COP27 are a turning point in how we address the damage being caused to countries that have not caused this problem. We have caused the problem, in the West in particular, and it is only right that we seek to pay damages to help adapt to the serious consequences of climate change, as well as to mitigate climate change. As I said, we are only at the very start but I think it is a very good start and a positive step forward by this country and by the European Union. --- Source: Houses of the Oireachtas.
