Central Bank (Individual Accountability Framework) Bill 2022: Second Stage Seanad Éireann — 2023-02-08 ============================================================ Paul Gavan (SF), Labour Panel The Senator made a fine speech. Well done. Today is my first time dealing with the Minister of State and he is very welcome. As he will know, we have waited a very long time for the introduction of this legislation. Every customer has the right to be treated fairly and have their interests upheld. At a minimum, they should have a guarantee that they will be protected from gross misconduct, unethical behaviour and corporate mismanagement, and where such injustices or misconduct occur, that those individuals responsible will be held to account. That is where I would respectfully disagree with Senator McDowell because, from the point of view of the class of people whom I represent, there just has not been enough accountability in terms of banking scandals and the individuals responsible for them. --- Source: Houses of the Oireachtas.
