Ceisteanna ar Pholasaí nó ar Reachtaíocht - Questions on Policy or Legislation Dail Éireann — 2023-03-09 ============================================================ Gino Kenny (PBP), Dublin Mid-West A number of days ago, I received a very difficult email from a mother who experienced bereavement of her baby girl, Izzy, who was stillborn. Pregnancy after loss is deeply profound. In this email, Celine states that her healthcare professionals, had they known prior of her stillbirth, would have provided a much better assessment and aftercare for the trauma she experienced. Celine proposes that a specific sticker can be placed on the chart of the bereaved mother. Celine says this would make an enormous difference to the aftercare of herself and her child. She begs, in the email, for this to be introduced in most maternity hospitals in Ireland. As a person who did not really know about this subject, I think it is quite rudimentary for something to be put on somebody's file, whether it is a paper file or a digital file, that this mother has experienced bereavement. --- Source: Houses of the Oireachtas.
