Housing and Homelessness: Motion [Private Members]
Dail Éireann — 2023-07-11
============================================================

Darragh O'Brien (FF), Dublin Fingal

I did not interrupt the Deputy. He should try to behave himself for once. There were 3,059 commenced in May 2023, an increase of 11.4% over the same period last year. Since January, nearly 13,000 new homes have been commenced, which is the highest ever for this period. A total of 6,716 new homes were completed in the first three months of this year, a near 20% increase on quarter one last year. They are the highest quarter one figures since that data series began. Nearly 31,000 new homes have been completed in the past 12 months. These are indisputable facts.
