An tOrd Gnó - Order of Business Dail Éireann — 2023-09-26 ============================================================ Mary Lou McDonald (SF), Dublin Central On 1 September, the Government increased the price of petrol and diesel by 7 cent and 5 cent per litre, respectively. As the Taoiseach knows, we are in the grip of a cost-of-living crisis. In that regard, it makes no sense and flies in the face of any semblance of fairness to go ahead with the increases the Government has proposed for 11 and 31 October. If they go ahead, the Government will have increased the price of petrol and diesel again by more than 10 cent and 8 cent per litre, respectively. This evening, Sinn Féin will table a motion in the Dáil that aims to reverse the Government’s commitment in that regard. Will the Government support that motion? Will it be fair about this situation and recognise that any further increase in petrol and diesel prices in October would be unfair to families who are struggling in a cost-of-living crisis? --- Source: Houses of the Oireachtas.
