By creating inhuman, completely unfair discrimination between asylum seekers the Government fundamentally legitimised the rhetoric and the dehumanisation by the far right. It is treating Ukrainians the way decent people would expect refugees to be treated but treating people who are coming from other conflicts, such as in Syria, Iraq or Afghanistan, in a completely inhumane way, by putting people into direct provision, at best, and putting them onto the streets, where they are vulnerable to being attacked by people whipped up by the far right, at worst.
