An tOrd Gnó - Order of Business Seanad Éireann — 2024-07-10 ============================================================ Lisa Chambers (FF), Cultural and Educational Panel I had not heard about it and do not know the individuals, the mum or the child, in question. It is horrific that it could happen in a developed country. We must ensure that children are given every opportunity and that healthcare is delivered for children. Most importantly, above any other members of society, children must come first. The Minister, Deputy Donnelly, is working day and night to try to solve the scoliosis issue, to alleviate the pressures and the waiting lists, but it is proving challenging. As I said, previous Ministers have also tried. Progress is being made but I appreciate that for the children waiting for surgery, it is not enough. It is taking too long. I certainly hope to see the issue resolved and that we are not still talking about the issue not being resolved in the new term. Time is of the essence for those families and children. --- Source: Houses of the Oireachtas. Licensed under CC BY 4.0 (https://creativecommons.org/licenses/by/4.0/).
