(1) A licensee to whom this Chapter applies shall not offer a benefit or advantage, the intent or effect of which is, either directly or indirectly, to encourage or maintain participation in gambling (in this section referred to as an “inducement”). (2) A licensee who fails to comply with subsection (1) is guilty of an offence and is liable— (a) on summary conviction, to a class A fine or imprisonment for a term not exceeding 12 months, or both, or (b) on conviction on indictment, to a fine or imprisonment for a term not exceeding 5 years, or both.”. --- Source: Houses of the Oireachtas.
