Criminal Justice (Incitement to Violence or Hatred and Hate Offences) Bill 2022: Committee and Remaining Stages Seanad Éireann — 2024-10-16 ============================================================ Helen McEntee (FG), Meath East I would like to hear from Senators throughout this debate. If the objective of this Bill relates to people who are targeted simply because of who they are - we can clearly see this, and the reason we have chosen these characteristics is because we know these people are more likely to be targeted - why would Senators not include in this Bill people who are more likely to be targeted than others? The objective of this Bill is to protect those who are more vulnerable, and these are vulnerable people. We need to understand why the Senator would not protect the people I have just mentioned here. They are real people who have been physically assaulted and attacked. --- Source: Houses of the Oireachtas. Licensed under CC BY 4.0 (https://creativecommons.org/licenses/by/4.0/).
