Affordable Housing: Motion [Private Members] Dail Éireann — 2024-10-22 ============================================================ Darragh O'Brien (FF), Dublin Fingal Do they recognise the inherent unfairness in a cohort of purchasers having a State guarantee, a safety net that Sinn Féin is providing, if they were to default on their mortgage, while the majority of other mortgage holders would not? Are they aware of, or have they had conversations on, the state aid issues for such a guarantee scheme? To further complicate matters, Deputy Ó Broin also stated that there would be some instances, and this was trying to get himself off the hook, where the State would not secure the home. He did not clarify the circumstances where that would happen. Maybe he will take the opportunity this evening to clarify that as well. --- Source: Houses of the Oireachtas.
