General Practitioner Contract: Statements Dail Éireann — 2020-11-03 ============================================================ Leo Varadkar (FG), Dublin West To my recollection, I did not but, as I said, the negotiations had concluded at this stage. If we had got into a real battle about trying to get GPs to sign up, a repeat of 2015, the then Minister, Deputy Harris, and I would have many conversations about it. The fact, however, is that things had moved on. Things move on very quickly in politics, particularly in the Department of Health. There is never a time in the Department of Health when there are not at least two other houses on fire. The kind of thing we were talking about that week and the next was not this because it was agreed and it was a success. We were talking about the backlog of 80,000 smear tests and the PwC report on the children's hospital. --- Source: Houses of the Oireachtas.
