Finance Bill 2025 [Certified Money Bill]: Committee Stage Seanad Éireann — 2025-12-09 ============================================================ Cathal Byrne (FG), Cultural and Educational Panel I listened carefully to what the speaker from Sinn Féin had to say, but it is important to recognise the contribution that IDA Ireland-backed companies have made to the economy. The tens of thousands of people across the country who are employed by them recognise the fact that corporation tax funds the vital public services that everyone relies on across the country from teachers, nurses, doctors, hospitals and our gardaí. It is so important we recognise the contribution of these IDA investments. I support ensuring that we continue to do what we can to ensure that those companies remain in Ireland, providing vital employment and funding our tax base. These measures proposed in the Bill go a long way to ensuring that. On behalf of the Fine Gael group, and in the absence of my colleague, Senator O'Reilly, I confirm that we will support the section and opposing Senator Murphy's proposal. --- Source: Houses of the Oireachtas.
