Ceisteanna ó Cheannairí - Leaders' Questions Dail Éireann — 2025-12-10 ============================================================ Micheál Martin (FF), Cork South-Central People should not be shooting from the hip all the time. The current system is not fit for purpose. Many children will present with special needs from the earliest diagnosis, when it is very clear they have special needs. They do not need to go through elaborate further assessments of need before being allocated a school place. We do need to streamline this. Therapists need to be freed up to provide services, to engage. That is what we want here, not endless long lists of people stuck for six or 12 months. We have to do this. No matter what political perspective one holds the system has to be unblocked. --- Source: Houses of the Oireachtas. Licensed under CC BY 4.0 (https://creativecommons.org/licenses/by/4.0/).
