Mental Health Bill 2024: Committee Stage (Resumed) Seanad Éireann — 2025-12-10 ============================================================ Mary Butler (FF), Waterford I have met with the Children's Rights Alliance. It was a couple of months ago, but I certainly met with it. The alliance did not raise any specific issues in relation to this aspect of the Bill. Because the Family Courts Act 2024 is new, I imagine that the alliance would have engaged with the Minister for justice at the time. These are family-friendly courts. When a child is being involuntarily detained under a care order, the Family Court is the right place for the child and the family to be. To answer the Senator's question, I met with the Children's Rights Alliance and it did not raise this aspect of the Bill. --- Source: Houses of the Oireachtas.
