Local Government (Support for Elected Members) Bill 2024: Second Stage Seanad Éireann — 2025-12-10 ============================================================ Mary Fitzpatrick (FF), Industrial and Commercial Panel I move amendment No. 1: To delete all words after “That” and substitute the following: “Seanad Éireann resolves that the Local Government (Support for Elected Members) Bill 2024 be read a second time on this day 12 months, to allow for further consideration of the Bill.” I thank the Minister of State for being here today and the Independent Senators for bringing forward this Bill. Elected members of local authorities, of whom there are 949 in the 31 independent local authorities right around the country, have specifically defined roles in terms of policymaking and policy decisions. I hope Senator Flynn can stay because I wish for her to understand where we are coming from on this. Our voting----- --- Source: Houses of the Oireachtas.
