Defibrillators Provision Seanad Éireann — 2025-12-11 ============================================================ Robbie Gallagher (FF), Labour Panel I thank the Minister of State for his comprehensive response. I commend the Irish Heart Foundation on the work it does. This is a proposal that has come from it. As the Minister of State outlined in his contribution, it would seem to make perfect sense. I welcome the fact that we are looking at this within the next year or so with a view to bringing it into the driver theory test in this country. That is a sensible and welcome development. As the Minister of State outlined, it is about having the knowledge in your pocket so that if, God forbid, you come across an event, you would be able to act, size up the situation and make the correct call. Having that knowledge in your back pocket is something that is worthwhile. I would welcome this development coming into effect as soon as we possibly can. What we are talking about here is the potential ability to be able to save someone's life. That is greater than any of us can comprehend. --- Source: Houses of the Oireachtas.
