Cabinet Committees Dail Éireann — 2026-01-13 ============================================================ Albert Dolan (FF), Galway East An issue that has come across my desk a few times in the past year concerns young couples or individuals being refused planning permission along national roads and having it objected to by Transport Infrastructure Ireland, TII. I understand TII objecting in the case of national roads. The problem is that these people are already living at home with their parents. They are proposing to build beside their parents and come out the same entrance that they are already using, so the justification for objecting or not allowing them to build a home beside their parents is lunacy. Does the Government have plans to look at the issue of planning permission on national routes? I know it forms part of the programme for Government. --- Source: Houses of the Oireachtas.
