Ceisteanna ó Cheannairí - Leaders' Questions Dail Éireann — 2026-01-20 ============================================================ Richard Boyd Barrett (PBP), Dún Laoghaire I have condemned, I do condemn and I will again condemn the Iranian regime for the violent repression of protesters, for shutting off the Internet and for the censorship of what is going on, as I condemn and have condemned Putin for the illegal invasion of Ukraine. The Taoiseach would not be presenting them with shamrock, would he? He is going to go over and present shamrock to Trump, even now. It has taken a threat to Greenland, because it impinges on the interests of the EU. Is it not the truth that this is the consequence of the Taoiseach and the EU remaining silent, or, even worse, echoing and reinforcing what Trump has done or at least being silent in the face of the genocide in Gaza, the actions in Venezuela, the threats against Canada and all the threats elsewhere and the silence of the world? It has now come back to bite Europe. What is the Taoiseach going to do about it? Surely, he is not going to go over the White House, celebrate our national day and hand him shamrock. --- Source: Houses of the Oireachtas.
