Wastewater Treatment Dail Éireann — 2026-01-22 ============================================================ James Browne (FF), Wexford It is the private sector, the developer, who will pay for it but, as I say, it must be done under the strict conditions set out by the EPA in collaboration with Uisce Éireann and oversight as Uisce Éireann will eventually take them over when they are completed. There will be very strict guidelines and rules of oversight in relation to the delivery of these. It will allow for 40 homes. We are doing this in a manner that will be environmentally safe, and overseen. We will assess it as it progresses and as it is being implemented to consider whether there is potential for an expansion of the role. However, in the circumstances 40 houses is a good starting point. A clear assessment will be carried out into its progress and application in implementation by the EPA and Uisce Éireann to ensure it is being done in a safe and appropriate manner and to ensure the protection of water quality, public health and the environment. It is important to say that these things are in addition to what Uisce Éireann is doing and are not replacing anything Uisce Éireann is doing. --- Source: Houses of the Oireachtas.
