Ceisteanna ar Pholasaí nó ar Reachtaíocht - Questions on Policy or Legislation Dail Éireann — 2026-01-22 ============================================================ Albert Dolan (FF), Galway East In east Galway we have a problem in that more and more GP practices are declaring that they can no longer take on more patients. They are at capacity and that is a significant issue. We also have another issue whereby we are not retaining our young doctors coming out university. We invest so much in our young people and their education, from primary school, through secondary school, buses, hot school meals, SUSI and so on, only for them to leave the country. What is the Government's plan to retain young doctors and young Irish people here so that they can serve rural communities like Galway east and ensure that we have GP capacity when we need it? --- Source: Houses of the Oireachtas.
