Mental Health Bill 2024: Committee Stage (Resumed) Seanad Éireann — 2026-01-29 ============================================================ Teresa Costello (FF), Agricultural Panel I commend Senator Boyhan who in his caring nature has been very clear with regard to this Bill and making sure that facilities are properly monitored. I commend the Minister of State because unannounced visits are very important. I have learned something in this discussion. I would have been right behind the idea of unannounced visits. When people do not know when they are going to be inspected, they work to a standard and we cannot let it slip. I did not think through the follow-up where they are working together. That is me not knowing something; every day is a school day. I do not think any of us is under any illusion as to the importance of monitoring and keeping an eye on how things are going. The Minister of State has said she reviews these reports all the time and keeps on top of it. I am glad that we are all on the same page in this regard. --- Source: Houses of the Oireachtas.
