Mental Health Bill 2024: Committee Stage (Resumed) Seanad Éireann — 2026-01-29 ============================================================ Garret Kelleher (FG), Industrial and Commercial Panel On behalf of Fine Gael, I echo the sentiments of other Senators. The debate has been very engaging. A collaborative approach has been taken. That was made all the more easier by the Minister of State's approach. I thank everybody who put in such huge work into it and working together. The emphasis that is on mental health now is an awful lot more significant and far better than it was when I was growing up in the eighties and nineties and the country is all the better for that. Long may that continue. Any additional resources that can be put into additional supports or additional counselling, as the Minister of State is striving toward, is welcome. Like others, I welcome the spirit in which the debate was conducted. I thank everybody involved in the Chamber and behind the scenes because 19 hours of debate is not easy. I acknowledge that much and thank everybody for all of their work. --- Source: Houses of the Oireachtas. Licensed under CC BY 4.0 (https://creativecommons.org/licenses/by/4.0/).
