Ukraine War Seanad Éireann — 2026-02-24 ============================================================ Gerard P. Craughwell (IND), Labour Panel I thank the Minister for a very comprehensive response. I am extremely proud of Ireland and the Irish people for what we have done for Ukraine but the basis of all humanitarian aid has to start with the preservation of human life. Human lives can be saved. We see the statistics are quite stark, with between 10% and 25% mortality catered for. The essence is to get the project up and running again. I implore the Minister to ring-fence €558,000 out of the money allocated to Ukraine for this project because it is delivering real results on the ground. The preservation of life is what it is all about. Now it is no longer just soldiers; through Putin's war crimes it is innocent civilians who are being killed in Kyiv, Donetsk and other parts of Ukraine. If the Minister can do this I would truly appreciate it. --- Source: Houses of the Oireachtas. Licensed under CC BY 4.0 (https://creativecommons.org/licenses/by/4.0/).
