Rental Sector Dail Éireann — 2026-03-05 ============================================================ James Browne (FF), Wexford We do have a lot to say to people. We have already delivered a record number of homes last year. Since Housing for All came in, we delivered 36,000 homes last year. We have provided tax breaks for renters as well. We know the only way we can address the homeless crisis, the rent crisis and the housing crisis is through increasing the supply. We cannot calcify the current situation forever. I know it is popular for Deputies opposite to say they want an eviction ban and to freeze rents. They are just going to exacerbate the situation as the population increases as a result of more people coming into this country, which is fantastic. The diversity is wonderful for our country but we have to drive the supply. The State cannot provide all homes to deliver that. --- Source: Houses of the Oireachtas.
