International Protection Bill 2026: Committee Stage (Resumed) Seanad Éireann — 2026-03-19 ============================================================ Jim O'Callaghan (FF), Dublin Bay South If somebody arrives into the IPO and they are told to go to the screening centre in Rathmines, unless they understand it, we cannot expect them to be able to go to the screening centre in Rathmines. They will be coherently told where they have to go to. Senator Higgins does not need to be concerned about that. They will be coherently told, in whatever language can be communicated, where they have to go to. It is a small communication but it is an important obligation that applicants must comply with and it is a perfectly reasonable application on the part of the State to say they have to go to the screening centre because we want to verify their identity. --- Source: Houses of the Oireachtas.
