Cabinet Committees Dail Éireann — 2026-04-15 ============================================================ Tom Brabazon (FF), Dublin Bay North I welcome the recent introduction of Grace’s Law, the intention of which is to make scramblers illegal in public places. However, these vehicles are still causing havoc in my community and in communities across the northside of Dublin. I am inundated with correspondence from constituents who are sick to their back teeth of these vehicles speeding up and down roads and footpaths in a reckless and dangerous manner, putting the lives of the riders and other people at risk. To combat this, I am asking that a statutory indemnity be introduced for gardaí pursuing scramblers and acting within reason so they can carry out their duty without fear or favour to ensure our communities can be protected. Will the Government now commit to introducing a statutory indemnity or some other statutory mechanism so members of An Garda Síochána who are going about their work in a reasonable way will be protected from prosecution? --- Source: Houses of the Oireachtas.
