Healthcare Infrastructure Provision Seanad Éireann — 2026-05-19 ============================================================ Mike Kennelly (FG), Labour Panel It is great when to hear such great and welcome news for the people of Kerry. This will be a 130-bed unit that will serve not just Kerry but also neighbouring areas across the county border. I was recently contacted by elderly people who are recuperating following hospital visits or whatever and who do not have community hospitals in their areas. They have been going to Killarney as a result. This is great news. I am delighted that all stakeholders are being engaged with. There is an end line in sight. I ask that the Minister of State to double down over the next couple of weeks in order to get approval from HIQA, get the patients transferred and ensure that the staff happy. Once the staff are happy, the residents, their families and the whole of County Kerry will be happy. I want to put on the record my thanks to the Minister of State for his work on this. --- Source: Houses of the Oireachtas. Licensed under CC BY 4.0 (https://creativecommons.org/licenses/by/4.0/).
