Mark Daly (CC), Administrative Panel

Before I call the next speaker, I welcome a health delegation from Türkiye, and the deputy minister, to the Distinguished Visitors' Gallery. They are most welcome to Ireland and to the Seanad. As they have probably been told a number of times, during the Famine, the people of Türkiye, the Turkish nation and the Sultan of Türkiye gave a donation to famine relief in Ireland that far exceeded the donation that was given by Queen Victoria. We tell that story many times when we have friends from Türkiye over here to remind us of our long-standing connection. I thank them for being here.
