An tOrd Gnó - Order of Business Seanad Éireann — 2026-07-16 ============================================================ Chris Andrews (SF), Labour Panel I want to move an amendment to No. 1 on the Order Paper, proposing an orderly winding down of the accommodation recognition payment scheme in a way that is fair and efficient. I note today is the last day of Dáil and Seanad sittings before the summer recess. I thank the Leader, as Senator McDowell said, for his kindness and work, the Leas-Chathaoirleach for always being so helpful and supportive, and of course all the staff without whom we could not do our work. I acknowledge the work that the staff across the Houses put in. Of course, I wish all the Members well. I hope everybody enjoys the recess. I think everybody will do that. It is also important to recognise the amount of work we all have ahead of us when we come back in September considering the scale of the problems facing this country. Government will say, "Look at the positives", but there are a huge amount of challenges. You need not look any further than the housing crisis. Of course, the Government will point to an increased number of housing developments. However, those housing developments are for the very well-off. --- Source: Houses of the Oireachtas.
