Mother and Baby Institutions Payment Scheme Bill 2022: Report and Final Stages Dail Éireann — 2023-02-01 ============================================================ Peadar Tóibín (AON), Meath West The State has much previous form in fighting people to the very end. With the CervicalCheck scandal, the State fought women in court up until the time they died. Many people have felt that in the past, the State has prolonged redress and justice for financial reasons. We see that the Government is wedded to the protection of its financial interests over its moral interests. Many people have died already while waiting for redress. It would be incredible to think we would have an open-ended process. If we need to employ people to get the job done at the right speed, then that should be the priority. What are the staff numbers that are likely to be working in this process to make sure it happens in time? --- Source: Houses of the Oireachtas.
