Cabinet Committees Dail Éireann — 2026-05-12 ============================================================ Peter 'Chap' Cleere (FF), Carlow-Kilkenny Across rural Ireland family-run pubs are under severe pressure from rising energy bills, insurance costs, staffing shortages and reduced footfall. In many villages and small towns, the local pub is more than a business, it is a social hub, a meeting place and an important part of community life. The Vintners' Federation of Ireland is calling for the Government to introduce a new targeted tax credit, which would be linked to draught products and capped at €20,000 per premises. I strongly support this request, and I ask the Taoiseach to outline what specific measures the Government is considering supporting small rural pubs, including action on energy costs----- --- Source: Houses of the Oireachtas.
