With effect from 1 November 2020, hospitality and tourism related services and goods currently subject to a VAT rate of 13.5% will, on a temporary basis, be subject a reduced rate of 9%. This will apply to catering and restaurant supplies, tourist accommodation, cinemas, theatres, museums, historic houses, open farms, amusement parks, certain printed matter and hairdressing. This change will apply from 1 November 2020 to 31 December 2021, which is a 14-month period. That is good news. It is until the end of next year. --- Source: Houses of the Oireachtas.
