Confidence in Government: Motion
Dail Éireann — 2026-04-14
============================================================

Jerry Buttimer (FG), Cork South-Central

Language matters. It is critical. People watch and listen.
I thank the men and women of An Garda Síochána for their leadership over the past seven days. I have met and spoken to them. Some of them are friends of mine. Behind the Instagram and TikTok videos, there is truth and reality. To the men and women of An Garda Síochána, let us say "Thank you", irrespective of our political ideology because without them, we would be a poorer State. All of us in this House have a mandate. We are elected by the people. We go before the people in an election. Our Constitution preserves that right.
