Cabinet Committees Dail Éireann — 2026-05-19 ============================================================ Barry Heneghan (IND), Dublin Bay North Is ait an rud é seo dom mar gurb é seo an príomhrud toisc gur innealtóir mé. We have made huge progress in renewable energy generation, but there is growing concern that parts of our grid infrastructure and regulatory frameworks are struggling to keep up with that pace. Since August 2025, renewable generators have been reportedly dispatched down and curtailed, with some operators saying they are receiving no compensation despite supplying clean energy. At the same time, there are delays in implementing grid code reforms by EirGrid, and this is creating uncertainty for Irish-owned renewable developers. Will the Government work with EirGrid and industry regulators to accelerate the required grid upgrades and code changes, ensure fair treatment for renewable generators and provide confidence to foreign companies and the Irish market so we can continue expanding renewable generation while maintaining grid stability, along with enacting the private wires Bill and facilitating plug-in solar? --- Source: Houses of the Oireachtas.
