Brexit (Foreign Affairs): Statements Dail Éireann — 2021-01-21 ============================================================ Cian O'Callaghan (SD), Dublin Bay North I have three questions for the Minster. I will ask them individually and I will be brief, so I would appreciate it if the Minister would give brief answers to allow me get to the other questions. First, the tariffs on steel imports into Northern Ireland potentially could affect construction costs in the Republic. A 25% tariff is being applied to most steel imports into the North, including reports of steel destined for the Republic, and because the two ports on the island of Ireland that are best capable of handling large imports of steel are located in the North, that could have a serious knock-on impact on our construction sector and for home construction costs. I ask the Minister to address that. --- Source: Houses of the Oireachtas. Licensed under CC BY 4.0 (https://creativecommons.org/licenses/by/4.0/).
