An tOrd Gnó - Order of Business Dail Éireann — 2026-09-16 ============================================================ Micheál Martin (FF), Cork South-Central I think a bit of a mistake has been made here. There is no threat to the funding for men's sheds. Government has been very supportive of men's sheds. I met quite a number of participants at the ploughing championships yesterday and they acknowledged that the Government has been particularly supportive of men's sheds. I have opened a good few of them and have been to them, particularly in Carrigaline in my constituency. They do a broad range of work, including in woodwork, construction materials, art, sculpture and so on. However, the Minister is reforming the grant application to reduce the burden because many men's sheds said the process of applying for grants was too burdensome. There will be a simplified grant application and the Minister will revert to people. I think people may have misread the situation. There is no such intention and no threat to the funding. --- Source: Houses of the Oireachtas. Licensed under CC BY 4.0 (https://creativecommons.org/licenses/by/4.0/).
