Address to Seanad Éireann by Members of the European Parliament Seanad Éireann — 2026-09-23 ============================================================ Mark Daly (CC), Administrative Panel Before I call on the Leader and then the Leas-Chathaoirleach to respond and conclude the debate, I thank the MEPs for being part of this and all our Senators for their questions and the engagement in the questions and answers session, which is an important part of that. I welcome to the Gallery guests of Senator McDowell who are from Indiana. They are most welcome here today. All of them are from Indiana, from the business leaders. It is part of 140-strong delegation that is over here from Indiana as part of the education sector, including university leaders, business leaders, political leaders and my good friend, Representative Tim O'Brien, who was involved in establishing the Indiana-Ireland Trade Commission through legislation in Indiana. I will be with them tomorrow morning as part of their ongoing engagement. I actually was having a discussion about the trade commissions with our MEPs and how our MEPs, as Representative O'Brien can clearly see here, are our voice on the ground and our eyes and ears on what is happening at a European level in terms of business, politics, and global diplomacy and security. In many ways, that is the kind of link between Indiana, Ireland and from there on into the European Union. I thank them all for being here this afternoon. I will now call on the Leader and then the Leas-Chathaoirleach. --- Source: Houses of the Oireachtas. Licensed under CC BY 4.0 (https://creativecommons.org/licenses/by/4.0/).
