Address to Seanad Éireann by Members of the European Parliament Seanad Éireann — 2026-09-23 ============================================================ Maria Byrne (CC), Agricultural Panel I thank MEPs Andrews, Doherty and Ó Ríordáin. Certainly, the insight they have shared with us is wonderful. It was an opportune time, especially as we are almost halfway through the European Presidency. They are our voice and advocates in Europe. Their voices very much shape the future of Ireland, and not only Ireland but our citizens. It is really important for them to share their insights of the different committees and workings and to answer the engagement with Senators. I thank all of the Senators who came here and asked their questions. There were an awful lot of thought-provoking questions and answers that arose. When we think of Europe, we think of peace, reconciliation, economic development, housing and all of the different topics that were covered. There is so much importance between Ireland and Europe. It is important our MEPs are here on an annual basis for us in this House to strengthen our ties with Europe. I wish them the very best into the future and thank them for all they are doing on our behalf. I thank the Cathaoirleach and the Seanad team for having them here today because it is really important to get that message out there, and for the public to realise what is happening in Europe and the role our MEPs have to play. That is really important. I thank all involved and wish them all the best. --- Source: Houses of the Oireachtas. Licensed under CC BY 4.0 (https://creativecommons.org/licenses/by/4.0/).
