Gender Pay Gap Information Bill 2019: Committee Stage Seanad Éireann — 2021-06-21 ============================================================ Roderic O'Gorman (GP), Dublin West The purpose of this amendment is to deem a person holding office in or employed in the service of a public body as an employee of that public body for the purposes of reporting gender pay gaps. I understand Senator Bacik's intention to ensure that the reporting requirement is as broad as possible. However, similar to amendment No. 23 on legal partnerships or multidisciplinary practices, the legislation will only apply to employees of the public body that would fall under the definition of an employee in the Employment Equality Acts. Where a person holding office or employed in the service of a public body meets that definition, that information will be required to be reported. The situation will be similar for office holders in private companies. We are using the existing definitions, which provide the relevant protections. --- Source: Houses of the Oireachtas.
