Bureaucracy in respect of forestry licences is seriously affecting the level of afforestation. The livestock sector feels under siege, and there are carbon budgets, eco schemes, nitrates reviews and Common Agricultural Policy, CAP, reform. The beef and dairy sectors are the driving economic force of rural Ireland. Whatever we introduce has to be economically sustainable to allow these industries to survive and prosper. --- Source: Houses of the Oireachtas.
