Maritime Area Planning Bill 2021: Committee Stage Seanad Éireann — 2021-12-14 ============================================================ Malcolm Noonan (GP), Carlow-Kilkenny Senator Cummins has pretty much summed up my response. In response to Senator Higgins, I repeat that the functions around prescribed bodies will be in the regulations. When we are talking about outdated consultation methods, we are really talking about consulting with a prescribed body for a prescribed period. That work is done. It is open and closed. We are providing for a longitudinal process that is inclusive and continuous. We are ensuring it is as broad as possible. The list can only be amended by primary legislation. Organisations like Coastwatch and other fantastic organisations across the maritime area have engaged extensively on this over the past 18 months and beyond. Their input has been valuable and helped shape this legislation. We want to ensure that process continues and that engagement continues with those bodies. I cannot accept this amendment. --- Source: Houses of the Oireachtas. Licensed under CC BY 4.0 (https://creativecommons.org/licenses/by/4.0/).
