Emergency Measures in the Public Interest (Covid-19) Bill 2020: Committee and Remaining Stages Dail Éireann — 2020-03-26 ============================================================ Paschal Donohoe (FG), Dublin Central On the questions put to me by Deputies Nash and Brady, the existing provisions in Schedule 3 to the Redundancies Payments Act 1967 already provide that periods of temporary lay-offs do not break continuity of employment. This will obviously include temporary lay-off periods due to the effects of the measures required by an employer to comply with, or as a consequence of, Government policy to prevent, limit, minimise or slow the spread of infection of Covid-19. I hope that answers the questions that have been raised with me by the two Deputies. Deputy Jim O'Callaghan asked a further question. I might have to get clarity from the Deputy because the amendment appears to be quite different to what I understood it to be. Is the Deputy referring to the amendment put forward by Deputy Willie O'Dea? --- Source: Houses of the Oireachtas. Licensed under CC BY 4.0 (https://creativecommons.org/licenses/by/4.0/).
