Ceisteanna ar Pholasaí nó ar Reachtaíocht - Questions on Policy or Legislation Dail Éireann — 2022-03-03 ============================================================ Bríd Smith (PBP), Dublin South-Central I wish to ask about what the UN General Secretary, António Guterres, had to say about the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change, IPCC, report. He called it "an atlas of human suffering and a damning indictment of failed climate leadership.” He warned that "As current events make all too clear, our continued reliance on fossil fuels makes the global economy and energy security vulnerable to geopolitical shocks and crises." His biggest warning was about any delay. In his report he asked us to recognise that we have a small window of opportunity to act decisively and quickly to avoid rapid closing of the windows of opportunity to secure a liveable and sustainable future. How seriously is the Government taking that warning? Can we have an urgent debate in the House on the latest IPCC report? --- Source: Houses of the Oireachtas.
