Grant Payments Seanad Éireann — 2022-03-29 ============================================================ Malcolm Noonan (GP), Carlow-Kilkenny I agree with the Senator in the sense that we have seen year-on-year, as I know from my own county and constituency, that the grants are oversubscribed. This is, in itself, a testament to the success of the grant scheme. There is significant uptake. There is always a waiting list. However, we have to give consideration to the rising building costs. They are, unfortunately, affecting every sector of Housing for All, as well as all of our plans. I hope the review will give consideration to all these issues and, in particular, the issue of which the Senator speaks about, namely, rolling grants. The critical thing we are trying to achieve here is to keep older people living in their homes for as long as possible, with the support of carers and their loved ones. That should be our ultimate goal. That has always been the aim of this particular grant scheme. --- Source: Houses of the Oireachtas.
