Summary of this debate

Auto-generated

The Minister of State at the Department of Health, Deputy Rabbitte, wishes to make a personal explanation to the House. I thank the Ceann Comhairle for allowing me to return to the House to correct the record of the Dáil. When responding to a Topical Issue debate raised by Deputy Gannon which was taken on 17 February 2022, I indicated from my script that the unlicensed product Cariban is considered to be a food supplement in Ireland.

The Department of Health officials have since been advised by the Health Products Regulatory Authority, HPRA, that it would not be appropriate to classify Cariban as a food supplement. I request that the record of the Dáil be corrected to reflect this. I regret any confusion the statement may have caused.
