I move amendment No. 32: In page 48, line 18, after “fee,” to insert “any person,”.
On prevailing side: this member voted with the winning side in 11 of 414 decisive votes (0 abstentions excluded). Read it as a government-or-opposition indicator rather than a measure of influence — the figure is near 100% for members supporting the government of the day and near 0% for those opposing it.
This is the point of the site: contributions keep the party held on the day, not the one held now.

I will speak to our amendments in this section. Amendment No. 57 seeks to place Ireland's obligation as a UN member state committed to the progressive realisation of the UN sustainable development goals within the national planning framework. It is particularly important given that Ireland played such a key role in the negotiation of the sustainable development goals and indeed in the review last year in terms of the need for a reconfirmed ambition for their delivery. The sustainable development goals do not exist …
I share the frustration of others. As colleagues have pointed out, some of the premise for this entire project, this giant planning Bill that is being pushed through in an unusual way without proper process and proper scrutiny, is the suggestion that it somehow represents taking action on the housing crisis. We need to remember that planning is not and has not been the cause of the housing crisis. There are, for example, 100,000 unused planning permissions in Dublin. The vast majority of planning applications are g…
It was opposed.
With respect, this is the Seanad. It has been 21 hours in the Seanad.
There are many points I wanted to make on this Bill but, given that it is very important that we get to vote against this highly problematic addition to legislation, I will keep them very brief. Others have gone through the many problems with how this is supposed to operate in great detail. These problems range from the fact that people may be sent a message on a website to the highly opaque qualities of the committee that is to decide on this life-changing and immensely important issue and the fact that, other tha…
I will be very brief. Senator Currie outlined concerns and the fact that things have actually been moving in the wrong direction. Considerations regarding health concerns and other matters have been taken out. Some of our amendments propose big changes, which we think are necessary, but we also have amendments that propose things like changing timeframes from six weeks to 12. Such changes can make a small difference and would show that some listening is happening. I refer to things like the fees and time periods. T…
