On prevailing side: this member voted with the winning side in 516 of 521 decisive votes (3 abstentions excluded). Read it as a government-or-opposition indicator rather than a measure of influence — the figure is near 100% for members supporting the government of the day and near 0% for those opposing it.

Party over time

This is the point of the site: contributions keep the party held on the day, not the one held now.

Climate Action and Low Carbon Development: Statements (Resumed)

The impacts of climate change are already evident for us all to see. In recent years, Ireland has witnessed heavier rainfall, stronger, more destructive storms and more flooding events than at any time previously. If we consider the impact of Covid-19 on our economy and our society in recent months, we need to multiply that when we consider the potential impacts of climate change on our country and indeed the world. Estimates for Public Services 2020

I leave that in your capable hands. We are all aware we are living in unprecedented times. Covid-19 has taken many lives and has left grieving families in its wake. Loved ones have been left isolated and funerals have been left unattended. The toll this crisis has taken throughout the country and throughout the world is incalculable. As I speak here today, there are still people suffering the consequences of this dreadful virus. The economic fallout from the Covid-19 outbreak too has been far-reaching. Every sector…

Covid-19 (Irish Economy): Statements

National solidarity has been key to our response to this crisis. Leadership, empathy and communication of the decision-making process on foot of public health expert advice has won public favour, understanding and appreciation. The curve is being flattened and, no doubt, many lives have been saved, despite our losses. I join others in commiserating with the families of all those who have died in recent weeks as a result of this crisis and beyond, as Deputy Michael McGrath has said. We have a duty to play our part i…

Covid-19 (Social Protection): Statements

I offer my condolences and those of my constituents to the families of those who have died as a result of Covid-19. As other speakers mentioned, families are also encountering very difficult circumstances as they bury their loved ones during this time. I record my appreciation, thanks and support for healthcare workers, emergency workers, essential workers and indeed the patriots who are the citizens at home today, playing an equally important role. We should also acknowledge and respect the leadership and decision…

Emergency Measures in the Public Interest (Covid-19) Bill 2020: Committee and Remaining Stages

I wish to raise two issues, one of which overlaps with the issue raised by Deputies O'Donnell and Troy regarding the Revenue guidance. It appears quite clear from page four of the Revenue guidance that the payments are not taxable whereas on page eight, it says that it is subject to taxation at the end of the year so could the Minister clarify that matter? Regarding amendments Nos. 59 and 68 put forward by Deputy Michael McGrath, while I respect and appreciate the need for the Minister to have at his disposal the p…
