On prevailing side: this member voted with the winning side in 336 of 348 decisive votes (2 abstentions excluded). Read it as a government-or-opposition indicator rather than a measure of influence — the figure is near 100% for members supporting the government of the day and near 0% for those opposing it.

Party over time

This is the point of the site: contributions keep the party held on the day, not the one held now.

Infrastructure Plan: Statements

I welcome the Accelerating Infrastructure Report and Action Plan. We need to act to ensure the delivery of housing and other infrastructure. I thank the Minister for his engagement on private wires, which is a huge priority for me. It is all about delivery for the people of Ireland. The cost problem at the moment, especially when it comes to the electricity grid, is really hitting families in north Dublin. We talk all the time about high electricity prices, rents and construction costs. I am fed up with words. Ther…

International Protection Bill 2026: Second Stage

I want to start by clearly saying what I was elected on in the election a year ago. I was one of the only TDs to have immigration on my leaflet, which the people of north Dublin elected me on. I was elected on a belief that immigration must be handled in a dignified and proactive way based on dialogue between communities and Government. Since sitting in the Chamber and in my office, I have heard many Deputies speak about the previous Government and how the Department was not engaging with local representatives, TDs…

Emergency Mental Health Services: Motion [Private Members]

I really welcome Sinn Féin bringing this motion forward. I welcome the fact the Government is not opposing it. I thank Deputy Cullinane and Deputy Sorca Clarke for their calls for reform. This morning, I spoke at an event for Movember. I was not invited there just because I have a moustache. Before I got involved in politics, when I was shouting from the outside of this House during lockdown, I ran an event for Movember called Movement for Mental Health. It was when we were in those confined areas. I was trying to …

Stardust Fire

Anocht, ba mhaith liom ceist a chur ar an Aire on phase 2 of the Stardust redress scheme for survivors. This is an ongoing saga between the Department of justice and survivors who have waited more than 40 years for justice. Will the Minister please outline the current stage of the phase 2 assessment, the remaining steps, when the proposal will go to Cabinet and what form of redress the survivors can expect? When will the payments begin?

Stardust Fire

I welcome phase 1 and the work done by the previous Government. It is now on to this Government and the Minister’s Department. The core issue is that the commitment made to survivors has not been honoured, in their opinion. I know from speaking to some of the survivors in my constituency that people were told that phase 2 was progressing and that proposals were imminent. However, the engagement has not been continuing with the solicitors involved. Can the Minister explain exactly what is delaying the process? Is it…

Stardust Fire

I welcome that. I understand phase 2 is not just about redress; it is practical and financial and long overdue. I appreciate that the Minister cannot give a specific timeline but I welcome that he will bring forward proposals on this. The survivors and their families were looking for a timeframe for when the payments will commence and what will be developed. I again thank Antoinette Keegan for working with me and my office and for speaking to me in her home. I saw at first hand how it still haunts her to this day. …

Road Traffic Offences

I reiterate what Deputy McAuliffe from my neighbouring constituency has said. It is not just in one constituency but across Dublin. On my way in to Leinster House one day, I saw a scrambler with two young lads without helmets. When I was pulling into Leinster House, they were going in the opposite direction on the road. I offer my sympathy to Grace Lynch's mother, Siobhán, who spoke powerfully last night calling for scramblers and e-scooters to be banned. They are a scourge on our communities. Has there been any ex…

Hospital Facilities

First, I thank the hardworking women and men of Beaumont Hospital. When I was in fifth year, I was extremely unwell and they looked after me and cared for me. When my mother suffered a polytrauma, they looked after me. However, thousands of constituents are contacting me about the accident and emergency department. Recently, I visited Patricia Anderson from Riverside whose husband spent 14 hours in a chair and then two months later would not go to the accident and emergency department. Sadly, he passed away in the …

Hospital Facilities

Gabhaim buíochas leis an Aire. Aontaím go hiomlán leí. Especially when the investment has gone in, there is a CT scanner and people are waiting, that needs to be looked at. In the words of Patricia Anderson, nothing can bring her husband back. However, she would love to see the delays in the emergency department and the ambulance system change. I thank the doctors, nurses, healthcare assistants, porters, cleaners and administrative staff and the carers of north Dublin. Beaumont Hospital is one of the most important…

Hospital Facilities

Speaking to the current system in Beaumont and hospitals across Ireland, a lot of the time qualified healthcare staff are caught up in administrative roles when that could easily be automated. There are many things across the public sector that could be automated. We have systems now with generative AI, which can store data and automate systems to speed up the efficiency of these systems. Having people walking around with reports who are qualified and could be serving and helping with patients is not efficient. We …

Bus Services

Gabhaim buíochas leis an gCathaoirleach Gníomhach. Tá a fhios agam go bhfuil an t-ábhar seo an-tábhachtach di agus dá constituents ar fad ar an taobh eile den chathair. Today I want to speak about issues relating to the National Transport Authority, NTA, and the proposed changes to a bus route but in particular the lack of consultation with my constituents. Will the Minister of State provide a current update on what the NTA proposes? The proposed merger of the 80 and 130 routes would be catastrophic because, accord…

Bus Services

I appreciate the reply from the Minister of State. This is an important issue for my constituents, who need reassurance. I emailed the NTA but my office has not received a response from it. I acknowledge the work of Independent Councillor Breen on the north side. I also acknowledge the work of the Acting Chair, Deputy Cummins, who worked very hard on the route 80, which affects her side of the city. If the NTA is to proceed with a merger, I can understand the changes to route 80 but not for the 130 bus route. I hav…

Flexible Work and Commuter Delays: Motion [Private Members]

Gabhaim míle buíochas le Páirtí an Lucht Oibre as ucht an intent atá thaobh thiar den tairiscint seo. Water: Statements

Bhí mé ag éisteacht le gach duine sa Teach seo. Táim i gcónaí ag tabhairt amach le daoine atá sa Civil Service. Sometimes it is warranted. I heard Deputy Ó Murchú mention that sometimes you do get that rare gem. I thank Keith Conmy from Uisce Éireann for all that the work he helped me with for the residents of Mask Avenue. We give out enough about civil servants. It is only fair to we clap for them when they do their job. He was sending me updates at 11.30 p.m., constantly keeping residents informed. That is the ki…

Urban Development

To be clear, I support better public transport, but in the task force we speak about the changes. Everyone in this House will have heard hundreds of people speaking about ghost buses. The NTA now wants to merge and extend routes in north Dublin. The NTA has said that ghost buses are due to longer routes and cross-city routes. The 130 route has been told it will be changed, but there was not enough consultation with the people of north Dublin. At the same time the 123 service has been changed. It no longer finishes …
